SYNOPSIS

THE FILMMAKER is a cinematic manifesto about authorship in the era of artificial intelligence. A director enters his own film, confronting the power and responsibility of creation as technology reshapes the boundaries between imagination and reality.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

Directed in June 2025, THE FILMMAKER is my first AI-generated film and was conceived as both a technical and creative experiment. The project was never intended to demonstrate what AI could already do, but to explore what it could become.

Using Runway Gen-4, I set out to test the technology's early capabilities, focusing on image textures, cinematic camera movements, facial and visual consistency, and the overall language of filmmaking. I deliberately cast myself as the main character to evaluate character consistency across multiple shots while maintaining full creative control over the process.

This film marked the beginning of my exploration of AI as a filmmaking tool. Rather than replacing traditional directing, I approached AI as a new medium, one that still requires visual storytelling, cinematic language, and creative decision-making. THE FILMMAKER represents the first step in that ongoing journey.
